A roomful of angels.....

Jenny, a family friend, was only 43 years old but facing death. I was 20-something, so that seemed pretty old to me, but now I realize how young she really was. She had a husband and 3 children. As Jenny lay on her hospital bed, our radio pastor, Rev. Hoff, sat in a chair beside her. Instinctively, strangely, he sensed something unusual in that hospital room and he asked her, "Are there angels in here?" Effervescently she answered, "Oh yes, the room is full of them. If this is death, don't be afraid of that!"

And then she was off to her Home in the skies, ushered by angels, no doubt. The Bible has a lot to say about them, but we don't usually have firsthand, personal contact like Jenny had that day.

I'll bring you a gun....

Traveling by motorhome across the States during our home leave some years ago, we arrived in Austin, Texas, where a dear former Montana friend had arranged a meeting for us in her church. We drove up to the church and the men were helping plug in for water and electricity. I was enjoying sitting in the motorhome when a gentleman popped his head in saying, "Are you going to stay here tonight?" I told him we were, to which he answered, "Well, then I'm going to bring you a gun." I nearly fainted at the thought and my expression evidently said so as I questioned him. With a wave of his hand over the large empty lot next to the church he said, "Just look. There's nobody to hear you if you called for help. I'm taking a lady home and during that time you think about it and if you feel you don't want to stay here, you can come home with me and park your motorhome in our driveway." When Kenny came in, it didn't take us long to decide we would take him up on his offer. As if to underscore the point, as we sat there talking, someone knocked on the door--we both heard it-- but when I went to check, I couldn't see anyone.

We went home with Tom and that was the beginning of a friendship that is still strong today as Glenda sends us e-mails of interest and we are prayer partners.
